Contemporary Courtyard Garden Design in Cirencester, Gloucestershire By Jill Blackwood Garden Design.
Delighted with Jill’s design for our garden. Listened to our input and delivered a stunning design which the builders turned into a quality piece of work. David Wallis
Mr and Mrs Wallis required a contemporary courtyard garden design that would provide them with a garden they could relax in and enjoy, with a feeling of enclosure and calm. The design uses smooth natural sandstone to blend with the client’s Cotswold stone house. The tones of golden flint gravel to provide texture and a subtle contrast. The raised planters were smooth rendered and painted a light cream shade to blend with the lighter tones in the sandstone paving and flint gravel. The colours of the landscaping materials were chosen to bring a feeling of unity and calmness to the space. A mix of evergreen plants such as Phormium, Palms, Fatzia and Heuchera provide colour, texture and structure all year round and add a touch of the Mediterranean. Grasses were added for additional texture giving a softer feel to the planting. Perennials like Hellebore, Salvia and Geraniums were chosen to add warmth and a touch of colour and interest in different seasons, particularly through the summer months.
Modern Garden Design – Emma and I would like to formally thank you for the excellent garden you have designed, built, and finessed for us. The design process was exceptionally thorough and you listened carefully to our likes and dislikes, making sure that the final design incorporated both the lifestyle and visual components we were looking for. In terms of the build, Steve and Wayne were excellent! Not only are [they] genuine and friendly individuals, but the standard of workmanship has been first class. Please pass on our thanks to both of them. Finally seeing the whole garden coming together with the planting, turf and water feature was a joy. Emma and I are both astounded by the transformation of both our front and back gardens in only four weeks. Everyone we have had visit has commented on just how good the garden looks and we have already started to sit outside to enjoy out Sunday morning newspapers. Not something we did when we just had boring old turf! So thank you again and if you ever need anyone to be a reference for high standard of yours, Steve’s or Wayne’s work then please do not hesitate to contact us.
Contemporary Garden By Jill Blackwood in the Bramptons, Swindon, Wiltshire
We would like to thank you for our wonderful garden makeover – we are delighted with the results and look forward to spending time in lovely contemporary settings. Would recommend your services to anyone without hesitation.
Thank you Jill. Jo & Paul
Jo and Paul wanted a garden that had a contemporary style with straight lines softened with abundant, lush planting. The design used smooth sawn cream sandstone throughout the space. Dark brick edgings and grey slate provided contrast and definition. A contemporary mirrored pyramid water feature is the centre piece of the garden providing a focal point that can be viewed from all areas of the garden and a central axis for the pathways to the rest of the garden. A pathway leads through abundant planting to the centre of the garden and a curved, pergola walkway leads to the top of the garden with a statue providing an additional focal point. A step stone pathway leads to the main patio area where a relaxed seating area awaits. The planting is a mix of architectural evergreens, grasses and colourful perennials to soften and enhance the garden and to ensure interest at any time of year.
Contemporary Garden – Just looked at your web and thought i’d let you know our garden looks fab. The plants have now really grown (with the help of all the rain) just a shame that some have now passed over, I just loved those Japanese poppies but there are still some about to flower. The palms, grasses and the Cedrus are all doing well and this morning the Hibiscus has 2 flowers on. Thanks to you and Rob for a fantastic job.
Contemporary Garden Design Swindon, Wiltshire – The client was keen to have a contemporary garden design that reflected their modern outlook. They also required a large socialising area for gatherings with friends and family.
Natural silver grey granite was used throughout the space to unify the garden. White painted walling on the raised planters and dark grey granite setts were used to provide a little contrast. A large bespoke, summerhouse provided a focal point at the top of the garden.
The main patio and lawn areas was flanked by vibrant planting with reds, yellows and oranges in both flowers and foliage, the addition of green foliage and blue and purple flowers provided a colour contrast that enhanced the colours of each plant. The planting in the main garden was designed to give an uplifting, social feel to the space. Structure in the planting was provided with topiary, grasses and Phormium’s ensuring the colours lasted all year long.
The smaller seating area uses the same silver grey granite and white painted walls but was surrounded by a more subdued plant colour palette. Similar shaped structural plants with the continuation of the yellows and blues and the addition of white helps to unify the planting shapes and colours throughout the garden, whilst providing a more relaxing feel to this area of the garden.
‘We appointed Jill to provide a full landscaping design and implementation over last Winter 2015. The results post Spring 2016 have been amazing and our garden is now in full bloom for the enjoyment of all. The project was huge, over 1/2 acre and from start to finish, from detailed design to installation, Jill and her Team were highly professional and efficient. Furthermore, the resulting design and planting has been thoroughly enjoyed and highly praised by all our house guests! I would not hesitate in recommending Jill and her Team to anyone taking on a similar project. Many thanks to Jill and the Team.’
Garden Design Swindon Wiltshire – Once again, so many thanks for doing such a terrific job with our garden. We are absolutely thrilled with all aspects of it – from the creative design to the planning and execution of all work, through to your advice and guidance all the way through the project. You interpreted our likes and dislikes so well, and there is nothing that we would want to change.I know that we were really fortunate having such stunning weather in April, but even so, it’s unusual for projects to come in a week earlier than scheduled. We really enjoyed working with you and all your team, and would be delighted to act as a reference point for your future prospective clients.
Wildlife Friendly Garden Design – Hi Jill, Just wanted to say THANK YOU as we are so pleased with our garden. From the initial discussions regarding the type of garden and plants we liked, you immediately understood our vision of our garden. With your extensive knowledge of plants and trees, together with layout and design ideas we have the most beautiful garden. Over the last two years we have been looking out of the window at a plain turfed space with no character or colour, this has now been transformedto an inviting and interesting garden and we can’t stop looking at it! We were also really inpressed with the hard landscaping and thank Steve and the guys for all their work during the hottest few days this year. The plants are growing well and look amazing so we can enjoy our garden for many years to come. Best regards Liz and Karl
