The client’s wanted to develop their large country garden in Wiltshire as a wedding and events venue.  The old farmhouse and outbuilding were refurbished as an indoor venue with luxurious accommodation for guests to enjoy.  The brief was to blend the events and wedding garden with the newly refurbished farmhouse and the surrounding countryside, making the beautiful views out to the rolling hills a focus for guests to enjoy.  A curved path edged with Corten steel leads to an outside wedding gazebo where the guest can view the wedding service with the stunning views of the green hills as a backdrop.  A reception area outside the farmhouse with a large raised patio area allows guests to mingle in the beautiful surroundings whilst enjoying canapes and drinks.  The large lawn allows space for a large marquee where guest can enjoy a wonderful dinner.  The planting in pinks, blues and whites is designed to be soft, scented and romantic with roses providing a long flowering season against a backdrop of evergreen topiary

From the client……

We’ve used Jill to design and create a beautiful garden for a wedding and events venue at The Ridgeway Barns. She understood the brief and created a thorough and beautiful design which was carefully thought out to reflect the seasons. We are thrilled with the results so far although we still have a few phases to go.

Garden Design Shrivenham, Oxfordshire Testimonial – ‘After having various ideas swirling around my head I contacted Jill who, with her expertise, was able to do a cohesive plan for my garden and fit in all the things I wanted.

She was very patient and knowledgeable about design and planting and it was great fun to sit with her and go through everything.

After the plan was finalised Steve and his team came to do the build, they were reliable and hard working, and a pleasure to have around.

I always get a “wow” when people see the garden, and I could not be happier.  I would thoroughly recommend Jill if you want a fantastic garden transformation!’

As an avid gardener the client asked for a garden that was rustic, cottage style with a natural, wild feel that would be  a haven for wildlife.  Also a vegetable garden was added to the wish list.  Natural sandstone with varied colour and texture was used along with gravel areas and natural boulders to give a blended, relaxed, informal unity to the garden.  A roofed rustic garden shelter was constructed using green oak to give the client an informal seating area by the pond.   Rusty metal arches were added to provide focal points and accentuate views adding to the rustic feel.

In particular the existing pond was home to newts so the construction of the new pond would need to fit with the newts breeding  patterns.   The old pond was deconstructed once the newts had migrated and the new pond constructed in time for their return.  The newts embraced their new home and continue to live happily along with lots of other pond life.

The planting was a mix of perennials and grasses to give a cottagey, wild feel to the borders with a mix of evergreen and deciduous shrubs for structure.  A hedge surrounded the garden to allow ground dwelling wildlife to leave and enter  to benefit from the pond and insect life attracted by the plants.

A Country Garden Design Cirencester Gloucestershire – Congratulations to you and your team for ‘transforming’ our garden. Your professional approach right from day one infused us with confidence – you answered all our questions, gave us lots of suggestions, challenged some of our ideas, and came up with a design we were happy with. The coup de gras was the planting – your selection of plants made our garden complete. All in, every bit as good as Titchmarsh and Walsh of TV fame! We are delighted with the result and would certainly recommend you to friends and colleagues.

Hi Jill,

Hope you are well and designing super gardens.  Just to let you know ours is looking fantastic and all the plants are thriving.  It’s giving us such pleasure.

The client wanted a country garden that was practical with a variety of seating areas from which to enjoy the sun and views of the garden,  also providing colour and  interest all year round.  Whilst also encouraging and nurturing wildlife.  Photos taken one year after the garden was completed showing how the plants had filled out and thrived to soften the hard landscaping providing a have for the clients and wildlife.

Garden design Marlborough – The client wanted a country garden in traditional style that fitted with the large house and surrounding countryside.  Walling and steps were constructed using red brick to match with the house to bring unity.  Textural Fossil buff sandstone paving and coping was blended with flint gravel to provide a subtle contrast to the brick and help lighten the space.  The planting used soft colours and traditional country garden style to compliment and soften the hard landscaping and the house.

From the client….. I am so glad you were able to pop over and see the garden in all its glory.  When Steve and Wayne left us in December (after some of the most abysmal weather ever), it was hard to imagine how the garden would look in the summer.  Well, now you’ve seen it and I am sure you must be as pleased as we are; it is a stunning transformation. The pleasure we get from sitting and looking at the garden is immeasurable.  You listened carefully and asked lots of questions, which I really appreciated because it has meant that we got the garden we wanted.

Thank you Jill, for all your hard work and excellent communication. You have made this such a pleasant process. Please pass on our heartfelt thanks to Steve and Wayne who always turned up on time in terrible weather conditions and managed to stay cheerful and hardworking throughout.

The quality of their work is excellent and I would have no delay in thoroughly recommending their work.  Garden Design Marlborough, Wiltshire
