Isabelle and Mario asked for a Mediterranean garden design that reflected their home country. The garden was designed to blend informal Mediterranean style with a relaxed country garden providing a space that combined the best of both styles. Textured natural sandstone for the paving and edging combined with golden flint gravel to give subtle colour tone and subtle variety of texture to the space. A simple bubbling water feature adds a focal point, movement and sound along with providing water for birds and other wildlife. The planting combines a gravel garden planted with Phormium’s, grasses, Hebe’s and Lavender with a central Olive tree with lush herbaceous borders. the borders are punctuated with the structure of Italian Cypress trees, surrounding a lawn with and area for wildlife at the top of the garden using a wildflower meadow and native trees.

As promised our testimonial…..
A big thank you to you Jill, Steve and the team. What a wonderful change to our garden! The design Jill came up with was amazing and we thought it would be difficult to achieve but we were proved wrong by Steve and the team! They worked in the blazing heat everyday and through the rain and were very professional and ready to listen to our views. Now we have a garden which all our family and friends love and we look forward to the coming years to see it mature into the garden we always dreamed of!
Thank you Jill for your professionalism, insight and care you’ve taken in producing the design.

Testimonial For Garden Designed By Jill Blackwood
Jill, I did indeed want to say that we were absolutely delighted with the work you and your colleagues did for us. It looks wonderful – better than I had ever hoped it would look. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the team to anyone. Needless to say the ducks are very happy with their new pond and we have all spent hours watching them swim around. I would be happy to provided a reference if any of your customers want to ask us about the work. – Ros Elmes
3 years later …….. Jill, I wanted to let you know that we (and the ducks) still love the work you did in our garden. Ros
Took all my random ideas and made sense of them. Garden turned out much better than my high expectations. I now have a wonderful outdoor space. Thank you Jill and the team, with a special, thanks to Steve. Tracey Powell
Contemporary small garden design – Tracey required a low maintenance contemporary garden to relax and entertain friends. The design uses dark natural slate paving with rich hardwood contemporary trellis and decking. the trellis provided a feeling of enclosure and privacy. The planting is low maintenance with a mix of blues and purples to give interest all year round. A contemporary steel water feature provided the relaxing sound of flowing water to the space.
Water feature for wildlife – In 2006 Swindon Garden Designer Jill Blackwood created ‘A Bonnie Burn’ wildlife garden for the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) Malvern Spring Gardening Show. The wildlife garden was designed by Jill to illustrate the importance of encouraging and nurturing our native wildlife through wildlife gardening. The water feature was constructed by Big Fish Landscapes Ltd and included a natural stone waterfall and a gentle stream constructed using glacial boulders nestled in an undulating wildflower meadow. Native trees and shrubs surrounded the water feature, and the garden even included a stumpery. The wildlife garden design was featured on BBCs Gardeners World Programme
As the plight of our wildlife continues and the numbers of bees, butterflies and other insects dwindling, we are all becoming increasingly aware of our impact on the environment. Thankfully many of us are starting to look for ways to improve matters. Creating a wildlife garden is essential. Jill felt and continues to feel that we could all ‘do our bit’ and that any garden can include some or all of the key elements that will help to create a sanctuary for our wildlife. Any garden can include an area of native wildflowers which will provide a ‘nectar bar’ for bees and other insects to feed on. A water feature, however small, can provide water for animal such as hedgehogs and a huge variety of insect and birds to drink. If you have room, a larger water feature such as a pond can provide a habitat for pond dwellers like toads and frogs.

Having tried a number of Garden Designers I was finally delighted to come across Jill Blackwood. Jill Blackwood demonstrated an understanding of what is required to provide a well balanced garden with a blend of landscaping and beautiful plants throughout the year. My wife and I are delighted with the finished work. This took four weeks which was quite impressive in view of the amount of work required. We can now sit and enjoy the garden from the numerous relaxing points available to us. BBC television viewed the garden and were most impressed. We have no hesitation in recommending Jill and her staff as and when required for further work. Brian & Ann Price

Contemporary Garden By Jill Blackwood in the Bramptons, Swindon, Wiltshire
We would like to thank you for our wonderful garden makeover – we are delighted with the results and look forward to spending time in lovely contemporary settings. Would recommend your services to anyone without hesitation.
Thank you Jill. Jo & Paul
Jo and Paul wanted a garden that had a contemporary style soften with abundant, lush planting. the design used smooth cream sandstone contrasted with dark brick edgings and grey slate. A contemporary pyramid water feature is the centre piece of the garden framed by a pergola walkway. The water feature can be viewed from all the seating areas, with pathways leading to other garden areas. The planting was a mix of architectural evergreens and colourful perennials to soften and enhance the garden and to ensure interest at any time of year.
Contemporary Garden – Just looked at your web and thought i’d let you know our garden looks fab. The plants have now really grown (with the help of all the rain) just a shame that some have now passed over, I just loved those Japanese poppies but there are still some about to flower. The palms, grasses and the Cedrus are all doing well and this morning the Hibiscus has 2 flowers on. Thanks to you and Rob for a fantastic job.
Country Garden Design Swindon Wiltshire – We would like to say how delighted we are with the transformation of our garden which you and your team have achieved over the last six months. We started with a blank canvas in a lovely location, and your design closely followed our brief for a natural country garden blending in with the rural surroundings. The result has exceeded our expectations, and we are now enjoying being in our garden and watching it slowly grow and bloom into the spring. Your landscaping team were highly competent, friendly and helpful, adapting the design to overcome problems posed by the site – and they braved the foulest of weather to get the job completed on schedule. We are particularly pleased with Wayne’s water feature which interprets your natural stream design perfectly. We would heartily recommend you to anyone wanting a lovely garden, but not knowing where to start. We are even planning to open our garden centre this summer, joining other local gardens in a local charity scheme, as being next to as popular country walking route, people from the village regularly pass by and complement our garden, and we are sure they would like a closer look! Thanks once again to you and Rob, Steve and Wayne for a great job.

Wildlife Garden Design in Shrivenham, Oxfordshire By Jill Blackwood Garden Design
Jill, I am very pleased with the total transformation of what was a mud patch full of weeds into something of beauty. The team have worked hard to create a wonderful space. It is now pretty much what I had in my mind when we first discussed the project but the reality is more pleasing than I anticipated. I am now looking forward to seeing the planting when it has had time to establish and develop. It is already a place of joy and relaxation instead of the headache it was before. I promise I will look after it and may contact you in the future for some advice.
Best regards Ray
